Muoversi a Roma durante le feste

Starting from 8 December until 7 January, the Atac company together with the Municipality of Rome will implement the mobility plan for the Christmas holidays. Below we report the different solutions for moving around Rome during the holidays.

Free public transport days:

On 8th, 17th and 24th December all surface transport, subways and the Metromare and Rome-Civitacastellana-Viterbo railways (urban route) will be free.

Free special lines to reach the centre:

For the entire period of the party plan, the FREE1, FREE2 and 100 lines will be active.

FREE1 line: Departure from the Rome Termini interchange car park, then stops as follows Repubblica (MA) – Via Nazionale – Via Milano – Traforo Umberto I – Via del Tritone – Largo Chigi.

FREE2 line: Departure from the Partigiani exchange car park, then stops as follows Piramide (MB) – Via Marmorata – Bocca della Verità – Piazza Venezia – Via del Corso – Largo Chigi.

Line 100: Porta Pinciana – Via Veneto – Tritone – Piazza Cavour – Largo Chigi and return to Porta Pinciana.

The FREE lines are active from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and have a frequency of approximately 10 minutes, while line 100 is active from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a journey time of 13 minutes.

ZTL time extension in the Historic Center and Trident:

The current regulations on the ZTL are strengthened, with a ban on access to the area of the Historic Center and the Trident from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., from Monday to Sunday, with the exception of 25th December, in order to limit accessibility to private transport and instead encourage the exchange between private vehicles and public transport. However, the timetable of Trastevere's daytime ZTL and nighttime ZTL remain unchanged.

Strengthening of surface and underground lines:

The bus lines to the historic center and to the shopping centers will be strengthened, in the time slot from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., on public holidays and on all weekends during the Christmas period.

On Saturdays more trips on lines 075, 70, 74, 80, 85, 160, 170, 301, 492, 706, 714, 916, 990.

On holidays (Sundays too), lines 075, 38, 44, 70, 74, 80, 85, 160, 170, 301, 492, 706, 714, 913, 916F, 990 will be intensified.

On weekends, 48 trips will be added for the metro line A (red) and 1 more trip from mid-day to the end of service for line C (green).

For Metrebus annual season ticket holders e-bike and scooter sharing service is free.
